When we make those grandiose resolutions—losing 50 pounds by a specific date, exercising daily, always having a clutter-free home/office, etc., we’re basically setting ourselves up for failure. Instead, we can resolve to make a concerted effort to lose weight without a deadline, to exercise when we can, and to put things back where they belong whenever possible. In other words, do our best to achieve our goals, but cut ourselves some slack. So instead of beating ourselves up when we don't attain these often unobtainable goals, we can pat ourselves on the back for what we did accomplish!
